Psalm 17:15 As for me, I shall behold Your face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied with Your likeness when I awake.
I wonder how many people wake up each morning and start to feed themselves with the images of this world, devouring the latest news and Facebook posts, or have their whole day prepared after staring at the weather predictions.
David's words at the end of Psalm 17 immediately reminded me of Jesus. Only in Him lies our righteousness, and only in Him do we get to be totally satisfied.
As the Bread of Life, Christ promised: he who comes to Me will never hunger; and he who believes in Me will never thirst (John 6:35). Why would anybody want to take in as much as possible of what the world offers and devour it as if it empowers us and prepares us fully for the day ahead?
I love the way David, just like Joshua of old, said, "As for me." Don't know about you...but as for me.
For if we don't get up and behold who Christ is and who we are through His death and resurrection, we will grab all the world has to offer in order to construct and create an image of ourselves, hoping it will bring satisfaction.
But if we behold Christ and believe in Him, we will also behold who He has made us, like Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled faces, looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
Oh hallelujah!
Because I'm sure we all, just like David, have opponents staring at us each day, not even to speak of the huge challenges we face each day and all that the world expects from us, yet we get to choose who we behold and with whom we satisfy ourselves with each day.
"As for me." Remember these words, as for me.
As for me, I behold Jesus, yes the Lord's face in righteousness, cause He made me righteous, and because He is my all, I shall be satisfied with His likeness when I wake.
