Hebrews 7:25:
Therefore, He is also able to save forever those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
We have so many reasons to celebrate Jesus' ascension, and one of them gets beautifully revealed and highlighted in the book of Hebrews, making known how Christ always intercedes for us through His eternal Priesthood!
So don't miss the word FOREVER, as πάντοτε (pantote) in Greek literally means "all the time, at all times, always, yes, forever."
Jesus intercedes for all who believe in Him ALL THE TIME!
So what does it mean when we read Christ intercedes for us, you may ask? Well, the Greek word ἐντυγχάνω (entugchanó) describes a person who hits the mark on your behalf, shedding light on the truth of the matter on your behalf, someone stating your case! Oh hallelujah! So unlike the priests in the Old Testament who lived and died and had to be replaced, bringing offerings upon offerings on behalf of people to the altar, Jesus lives FOREVER to intercede for all who believe in Him ALL THE TIME!
This means, for all who believe in Him, that His death on the cross states our forgiveness ALL THE TIME, and His resurrection states our justification and new life by the Father ALL THE TIME!
He is our High Priest who lives forever and sheds light on the truth of the matter of what He has done for all who go through Him unto God!!! Even though we all fail, we all struggle, and we all feel weak and insignificant; by faith in Christ, we can rejoice because of His ascension, as we know that He now LIVES to intercede for us with the Father! Jesus did not only die for us; He also lives to intercede for us!
You see, nobody can approach God through their best efforts, nor through religious deeds, nor through anything or anybody else but Jesus! And the blessing for all who believe in Him is that He intercedes for us all the time, not some of the time, not most of the time, ALL THE TIME! It is so that we may live through His finished work on the cross permanently and live in the power of His resurrection permanently as men and women forgiven and justified before God ALL THE TIME, all because He intercedes for us!
I praise the Lord for His ascension, for in it He assures me of His eternal Advocacy, His unending Priesthood, and His intercession for me, as He is the continual representation of who I am in Him by the Father!
May you too celebrate and glorify Christ for His ascension today, because through faith in Him, He enables us to live every day out of His intercession for us from His glorious eternal Priesthood and Lordship!
