Ask in my Name

21 July 2026

2 Chronicles 1:7‭ In that night God appeared to Solomon and said to him: "Ask what I shall give you.”

Most of us are familiar with this historical moment way back then when the Lord asked Solomon, "Ask what I shall give you."

But sadly, most people see this invitation as a "one-off" moment that only existed between the Lord and Solomon, not realising that our Lord Jesus came to make this glorious relationship and invitation also unto us.

More than once, the Lord Jesus taught His disciples to ASK the Father anything in His name (Mrk 11:24, Joh 14:13 & 14, Joh 15:7, Joh 16:23)!

Why then do we so easily ascribe such a glorious invitation from God as if it were only an exclusive offer unto Solomon when Jesus clearly invited His own to ask our Father anything in His Name?

In John 15:7-8 we read that Jesus said, 'If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.' By this My Father is glorified: that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

Ah hallelujah, you see, those who abide in Christ and allow His words to abide in them will have this desire to ASK, and by asking our Father in Christ, we know He gets glorified.

You see, it wasn't just Solomon that had such a special invite from God to ask Him for anything, which glorified God, because Christ came and made this very invite possible for all who would abide in Him, getting to ASK our Father in His name, and IN ASKING, glorify the Father!

Oh, and you recall the time when Christ taught us not to worry, right?

"So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these (Mat 6:28-29).

Wait, who was mentioned? Solomon – so that we can see and behold the invitation to the full life Christ made possible unto us all, as we get to live with the daily reminder to ASK our Father for our daily needs.

I just wanted to remind you today that we get to glorify our Father in a simple yet glorious moment of asking Him in Jesus' name.

Amen
