Come, exalt the Lord with me...

Psalm 34:4 Exalt the LORD with me, and let’s exalt His name together.

How special isn't this invitation from David? He's actually asking, "Come exalt the Lord with me, and join me in lifting His name!" When I read these words of David, I thought about them for a moment and wondered if we who are in Christ are inviting others to also do the same and live the same.

This passage also invites reflection on the profound privilege we share in Christ—a divine invitation, echoing the words of David, that calls us to respond in faith. Through Christ Jesus, we are blessed with the opportunity to exalt the Lord and lift His name on high. In doing so, we seamlessly join an eternal chorus of believers, standing alongside figures like David, John, Peter, Mary, Martha, Paul, and the countless faithful who have gone before us.

Sadly, we live in days where people would rather invite others to join them to raise their voices for people or heroes or famous people rather than join one another to exalt the Lord and magnify His Name.

Now even though the name of Jesus is heard regularly all over the world, I'm sure you will agree that it's more often heard when people swear and rarely when His name gets exalted by a people standing together and glorifying Christ.

But think about it: how different will this Tuesday be if you and I, by faith, magnify the Lord by living in Christ, walking in the Spirit, bearing the fruit of the Spirit and being the salt and light in this world while exalting the Name of Jesus?

David's words also made me think of our brother James' words in James 3:8-10 when he wrote, "But no one among mankind can tame the tongue; it is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who have been made in the likeness of God; from the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, these things should not be this way.”

Sjo, let us rather use our words to magnify the Lord and our words to exalt His Name and, like David, invite others to join and focus on Christ.

May we align by faith in Christ and together magnify the Lord today, as we exalt His Name, the Name of Jesus, in all we say and do so that our lives may be like David's invitation: Come exalt the Lord with me and join me to magnify His name!

Amen
