Acts 4:13 Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus.
Is it not amazing to witness that just a few days after Pentecost back in the day, the religious elite, the Sanhedrin Council, concluded that Peter and John have been with Jesus.
Now get this, their conclusion wasn’t based on an aura these disciples still carried of being in the upper room a few days ago, nor was it because of a spiritual high they were still on because of what happened in the last few days after Pentecost in Jerusalem, no no, it was based on a CONFIDENCE they now had because of the Holy Spirit dwelling in them.
He was with them in every breath, every heartbeat, every step.
Without any hesitancy, they told these religious elite: “there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
You see Peter and John made it crystal clear: only Jesus saves, and there is no other name by whom people can be saved.
That’s it.
That is what the Sanhedrin heard and observed in these men who they themselves called uneducated and unlearned, yet they were fully confident in Christ. Peter and John's confidence in Jesus was so visible, that the Sanhedrin's only conclusion was that they have been with Jesus.
Now I wonder if that is the confidence people see in Christians today?
Do they witness men and women who know the Holy Spirit is with them, operating confidently out of His power so much so that people see you as having been with Jesus? By the way, Peter and John never said Jesus is a name among other famous religious names for salvation, no no, He was thé only name by which man can be saved!
There is no salvation in the name of Allah, or Muhammed, or Krishna or Buddha, you can call upon them, and you won’t be saved.
Salvation is only in the Name of Jesus.
Oh, what a privilege of having the same Holy Spirit dwell in us and being with us each moment, empowering us to live with the same confidence Peter and John had in Christ!
May all people who cross the path of believers in Christ today witness our confidence, not a worldly confidence, but the confidence that comes from the Holy Spirit, confident that our faith will also lead others to only one conclusion: we have been with Jesus, and salvation is only in His Name!
Amen
