Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Now let's be honest, we all get tired and say things like, "I'm so tired after this long day, tired of these people, tired of my work, tired of the things that just don’t want to work out, and tired of this country."
Well way back then in Galatia, the Christians started wondering if it was still worth it to keep on "doing good" after they faced so much opposition over and over, so they started to wonder whether they were even making a difference by treating others with goodness, because they didn't see that it produced any fruit.
Yet, Paul reminded us of this truth after teaching us that goodness is part of the fruit of the Spirit, so we don't have the luxury of not wanting to bear the fruit of goodness and do good unto all people.
We should come against that "I’m tired of" attitude that wants to kick in, for through our fellowship with the Holy Spirit, that moment where we feel so tired of doing good, is precisely the perfect opportunity to let the fruit of the Spirit’s goodness manifest.
Why would we ever want to grow weary of allowing the Holy Spirit to refresh us, as well as using us to spread and give God's goodness?
We often make the mistake of saying, "But I’m going out of my way to do good. 🤷"
The thing is, when you follow Jesus, that is the way; we don't go out of our way if Jesus is the Way!
You see, the seed of our goodness may not produce fruit for us to witness right away, but we must never underestimate the work of the Holy Spirit, because when we don’t grow weary of doing good to others, we are not just sharing God's goodness; we too are growing in Christ and realize how dependent we are on the Holy Spirit’s mighty work in and through us!
Aren't you grateful Jesus never grew weary or stopped doing good to us? I love how Paul said in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
So let us not grow weary of living from Christ and rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to do good to all people, regardless of whether we immediately see the fruit of it or not, because at the proper time, we will reap if we don't lose heart!
Amen
