Do this often....

1 July 2026

1 Corinthians 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.

How many of you realise the privilege of proclaiming the Lord Jesus' death until He comes not in words but in deed?

Oh, and by the way, don’t miss the word "often". Do you often receive the fullness of what Christ did for you in His body and has done with you by His blood?

Paul reminded the Corinthian Christians back in the day of what it meant to receive Jesus' body when they took the bread and the cup of the New Covenant and that this meal was never meant to satisfy our hungry stomachs but to satisfy and fill our real spiritual hunger and thirst.

Many people, till this day, don’t take communion often, as many are only doing it when church traditions require it.

By the way, “the unworthy manner” Paul spoke of, which some did back in Corinth, was aimed at people who took the bread and cup at communion to still their physical hunger, like part of their normal meal, without faithfully remembering Christ’s sacrifice and what the bread and cup really meant.

When you and I eat a normal meal, that which we eat becomes part of our bodies, right? There's a familiar saying: "You are what you eat."

I agree.

Why then do so many neglect to embrace what communion does for us? It was no initiated by man. Jesus Himself gave the bread and cup unto His disciples and instructed Paul later to use the word 'OFTEN' in his instruction regarding communion.

Instead of feeding your spirit and soul with the opinions of man and this world, be fed and nourished by what Christ accomplished and did for us in His flesh and by His blood!

If normal food feeds our bodies by becoming part of us, the communion with the body and blood of our Lord Jesus also becomes part of us when we feed ourselves off Him.

As often, ...so take a piece of bread today and think of what Christ did in His flesh for you, as Isaiah 53:4-5 declares that Christ has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

Examine the fact that through His body, He received our judgement, as His was broken to suffer to make us whole!

And as you take a bit of grape juice, examine what Jesus' blood did with you, as you are reminded that the Cup of the New Covenant declares that Christ's blood forgave us of our sins, spared us from the wrath of God, and fully justified us by making us righteous and holy.

Hallelujah, amen
