Psalm 1:1-2 BLESSED is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, and does not stand in the way of sinners, and does not sit in the seat of scoffers;
You can't get more direct instructions than this to be blessed. Now just hold on! Not a watered-down version of what the world sees as blessed; this is the Hebrew word "Esher" (אַ֥שְֽׁרֵי), which means, "Call me blessed, call me happy, call me fortunate!"
How come? Well, Esher is not a fleeting emotion but a settled state of well-being grounded in the character and promises of God.
If I can give you the best example: Ephesians 1:3—Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.
Noticed the reason believers in Christ are blessed? ...because God is blessed, and that's why Psalm 1 reminds us of why those who are blessed because of the Lord walk differently, why their stand in life is different, and why their positions from which they operate are different.
It's not difficult to spot someone who walks with the Lord, stands with the Lord, and sits with the Lord, because Psalm 1 describes such a person as blessed, for the blessed don't walk with the world nor stand with the world and don't position themselves in the world in order to be blessed.
Someone who is blessed in Christ does not walk in the counsel of the wicked but walks in the counsel of the Lord. Someone who is blessed in Christ doesn't stand in the way of sinners, for there is only one Way, Jesus.
Someone who is blessed in Christ are not found in the circle of scoffers, in other words does not go and sit and become comfortable together with those who despise the works of God and make a mockery of who He is.
Who are you going to walk with, stand with, and sit with and live from? Because walking, standing, and being seated in Christ is to be blessed. May others choose to walk with and stand and sit with those who are blessed and get to know why they are blessed.
Praise the Father that we can walk and stand and sit IN HIS joy and gladness through Christ, and be BLESSED in and through Him, everywhere we walk, everywhere we stand and everywhere we sit.
Amen
