Ephesians 1:19-21 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
If we would truly understand what Paul prayed and made known unto believers in Christ Jesus, no Christian will ever face or enter a day in their own strength but rely on this power that God has given us in Christ!
Paul called it the surpassing greatness of God our Father’s power in our lives.
In Paul's prayer, he asked God to open the eyes of our heart, so that we can understand that this power He works in us, is the same power that He worked when He raised Christ from the dead, and that its the same power with which God took Christ up into heaven, and that its the same power with which God positioned Christ at His right hand.
Now listen, Paul's prayer was that God would give us the understanding of this exceeding great power, because it's the same power with which every Christian ought to live from every day!
There is no other power that could raise us up in Christ, for by the very power God used to raise Christ from the dead, He saved, redeemed, justified, reconciled and made us completely new in Christ.
No other power could've positioned us in Christ as a beloved child of God the Father, only His surpassing great power that He worked in Christ in us!
So the reality is that we all are hindered by the crises and challenges and sicknesses and problems and influences of this fallen world, and Im sure you've noticed that every opposition has a name of some kind.
Thats why Paul wanted us to realize what the surpassing greatness of God’s power is for us who believe, for then we will realize why Jesus is above all rule and above all authority and above all power and above all dominion and above every NAME that is named in this world!
You see the same power that God worked by placing Christ above all rule, authority, power, dominions, and above every name, is the same power that He works in and through us to live from!
So whatever wants to pull God's children down, break us or try to ruin our lives, its still not more powerful than Jesus who is above all, above all might, power and authority and dominions.
I want to encourage every believer in Christ today to fix your eyes upon Jesus, and to take it off of the strength and power of the things and names and obstacles that comes against you or seem to rise above you, but rather behold the surpassing greatness of God’s power in Christ.
May the Holy Spirit continue to remind us that Jesus is above all rulers and authorities and powers and dominions and every name that is named, and that all things are under His feet, and that God gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
Amen
