One in Spirit

29 June 2026

1 Corinthians 6:17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.

Paul used the Greek word κολλώμενος (kolloōmenos) here, meaning "I am stuck to, I’m glued to, I’m fastened to."

Wow, instead of saying, "I'm stuck in traffic, stuck with this condition," we get to know who we are stuck to: Jesus!

Paul knew how important it was for believers in Christ to know this, for sometimes things happen around us or with us that make us feel distant from the Lord, and this is why we are reminded that we are κολλώμενος (kolloōmenos) with the Lord, joined to Him, crucified with Him, raised with Him and seated with Him, like Paul explains in Ephesians 2.

To be honest, before we repented to Jesus and received Him by faith and all He made us through His death on the cross and resurrection, our whole identity was based on everything we said and did.

Even our summary on what the purpose of life is was different because we were joined to the world, attached to the world.

But praise the Lord that Jesus came and that we also get to behold what He specifically prayed unto our Father to be one with Him, just as He and the Father are one according to John 17:21-23.

Let's fathom the privilege of being one with Jesus, attached to Jesus, one in spirit with Him! Although it may not always feel like it, we shouldn't believe the lie of walking by feelings and sight but rather walk by faith in truth!

Romans 8:11 declares that the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us, and that He will also make our mortal bodies alive through His Spirit who dwells in us!

You, see?

It’s time we realise we are one in spirit with the Lord because of His doing and joined to Him because of His doing and attached to Him because of His doing, and because of this, it affects our whole life, everything, because now Jesus is now part of our everything!

We sing and confess so often about Jesus’ death on the cross and say that He died for us, and that He forgave us of all our unrighteousness, and that He freed us from things that was stuck to us, but we rarely live as a people truly ONE WITH HIM, JOINED TO HIM, fully truly reconciled with Him.

Whoever is joined to the Lord is ONE SPIRIT with Him ...no wonder our brother John wrote: 'As He is, so also are we in this world' (1 John 4:17).

Never forfeit this privilege, even if you don’t always feel that way. Believe the truth!

Amen
